God Saw That: The Power of Being Remembered in the Waiting

When You Feel Invisible, Heaven Is Taking Notes

“Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name.” Malachi 3:16

We’ve been walking through the minor prophets, and today I want to sit with you in Malachi 3, specifically verses 16 and 17. This chapter ministered to me deeply, especially as I reflected on those seasons when we feel invisible. When we wonder, Is God even seeing this? Does He notice all that I’m doing, all that I’m enduring?

Sister, the Word tells us: He sees. He hears. And He remembers.

A Remnant in a Compromised World

In Malachi’s time, the people of God had gone astray. The temple was rebuilt, but their hearts were far from the Lord. The priests were bringing defiled sacrifices, treating their wives treacherously, and allowing pagan teachings to lead people astray. Some even questioned if it was worth serving God at all: "What’s the point? We’re not seeing the blessings. Where is this Messiah you promised?"

But in the middle of all that compromise, there was a remnant. There was a group that feared the Lord. And God saw them.

“They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.” Malachi 3:17

When You Feel Forgotten

Maybe you’re the mom who’s praying while folding laundry and driving your kids to school. Maybe you’re the wife holding her marriage together in quiet faithfulness. Perhaps you're the single woman standing for purity in a culture that calls it outdated. Maybe you’re the one always serving behind the scenes, unseen and unappreciated. Perhaps you’re the faithful woman who's been passed over, disappointed, hurting, and still showing up in prayer. Maybe you’ve stood for truth and lost friends because of it.

If that's you, sister, hear me loud and clear:

You are not invisible. You are not forgotten. God is writing it all down.

There is a book of remembrance, and your name is in it.

He sees the late-night tears, the prayers whispered in weariness, the faithfulness when no one is watching, the integrity when no one applauds. You are storing up treasures in heaven with every act of obedience.

Your Quiet Faithfulness Is Loud in Heaven

We live in a world where loud, flashy, and visible are often rewarded. But heaven runs on a different economy. The unseen acts of obedience are precious to God. The quiet woman who chooses to stay faithful is remembered.

Remember when the king in the book of Esther asked for the book of remembrance to be read? He discovered a good deed that had gone unrewarded and made sure that honor was given. That’s a shadow of what God does for us. The reward may not come immediately, but it is coming.

Jesus said: "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven.” Matthew 6:19–20,

And sister, that’s precisely what you're doing.

Don’t Waste the Waiting

You may be waiting for your Boaz, waiting for healing, waiting for a breakthrough in your marriage, your ministry, or your finances. You may feel like you’re in a holding pattern, just circling. But don’t sit down and give up. Keep serving in the waiting.

My husband and I—we’ve been in a holding season, too. But we are not wasting it. We’re still discipling, still evangelizing, still walking out this call. You can too.

Keep praying. Keep worshiping. Keep living holy in Babylon.

Conclusion: God Sees. God Rewards.

Your name is written, beloved. And your reward is coming not just in eternity, but here, in ways you may not expect, but in perfect ways. Don’t give up on the waiting. Don’t grow weary in doing good.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9,

Stay steadfast. Stay faithful. Heaven is watching. And your name is in the book.
