Parable of the Blessed and Evil Servant

If Jesus were to return this hour, what would He find you doing? Have we grown complacent in the waiting? Jesus warns the day and hour we will not know of His return. He will come when we least expect Him.

Jesus has two types of servants here. The first servant He says is His blessed servant because they are busy doing the work of Christ when He returns. This servant is a good manager over the souls entrusted in him/her. The blessed servant is loving their neighbor and making Christ known. The blessed servant is not tainted by the world. They have separated themselves for the work of Christ, living a life of holiness.

Jesus will reward His faithful servant with rulership in the kingdom to come.

The evil servant professes Christ but has decided His Master isn’t coming anytime soon. The evil servant lives his/her own life the way they choose thinking they are safe from judgement. However, Jesus will come when they least expect it and throw them into eternal damnation.

Jesus elaborates on how he found the evil servant indulging in the pleasures of darkness. The evil servant uses his power to abuse Gods people. This servant is a people pleaser and enjoys the company of sinners. He is a hypocrite in his profession of Christ as he indulges in the pleasures of this world.

Saints of God we live in the days of Noah. People are scurrying about their daily lives believing Jesus is not returning soon. When does He come will you be watching Rated R movies? Will you be lusting in your electronics? Will you be abusing people God has given you charge over? Will you be drunk or high? Will you be living with or sleeping with your boyfriend/girlfriend? Will you be sold out to materialism? Will you be full of pride and ego? Will you be known by love or hypocrisy?

I fear many in the church are not ready for the Masters return. We wink at sin and are entertained by it. We have compromised truth to such a degree we no longer recognize it when it’s right in front of us. Jesus Himself knew when He returned, He would be hard pressed to find faithful servants. We need revival back to the biblical moral standard of scripture. Our Master is coming, how will you be found if He came for you suddenly? Matthew 24:44-51

Therefore, you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

” Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants and eats and drinks with drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
