When Words Fail, Heaven Still Hears
"Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words." Romans 8:26
We’re in Week 5 of our series "Trusting God in the Storms," and this one is close to my heart: prayer. Not polished, not perfect, just honest, raw prayer. Maybe you’ve been there too, weeping without words, wondering if God even hears you.
Sister, He does.
He Hears You in the Weakest Moments
Some storms are so intense, so consuming, that even words don’t come. I’ve been in that place, curled up in a spare bedroom, crying out to God with nothing but groanings. That’s where the Spirit intercedes. Romans 8:26–27 says He prays for us when we can’t. That’s how near God is.
Job said, "My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God." (Job 16:20). Psalm 34:18 reminds us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Prayer Is Your Weapon, Not Your Performance
Prayer isn’t a show. It’s a weapon in the war we’re in. Ephesians 6 lists all our armor, and then it tells us to pray. Why? Because prayer is how we engage the fight. You don’t need eloquence. You need honesty. Even Jesus, in agony before the cross, prayed so intensely that His sweat became like blood (Luke 22:44).
Your Emotions Are Not a Problem
For years, I wore a mask. I learned to bury my emotions, to present strength while suffering in silence. But healing has taught me this: God welcomes your honesty. Psalm 62:8 says, "Pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us."
God is not asking for the "right words." He’s asking for the real you. He already knows. Just show up.
God Collects Every Tear
Psalm 56:8 says, "You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?" Your prayers spoken or silent, are never forgotten. Every tear is recorded. Your storm will not go to waste.
Jesus Made the Way for You to Be Heard
Because of Jesus, we can approach the throne of grace directly. Hebrews 4:16 says, "Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need."
This isn’t about how good your prayer sounds. It’s about how good your Savior is.
You Can Be Real With God
You might be angry, overwhelmed, or afraid. Say it. Show up with it. The more I’ve walked with God, the more I’ve realized: He’s not surprised by my humanity. He welcomes it. Because the righteousness of Christ covers me, I’m free to be human. Free to grow. Free to be sanctified without fear.
Conclusion: Prayer Is the Place You’re Known and Loved
God sees you. God hears you. And God remembers every word, every groan, every tear. Sister, you are not invisible. When you pray, you are standing before a Father who is not only listening—He is holding you.
Your prayers matter. Not because they are perfect, but because you are His. He will never leave you. He will never forget you.
